What is the purpose of this site?
It’s important to mention the main driving forces behind putting together this site:
- Sell prints to offset medical and physical therapy bills
- Share my art
With regards to the first point, I had a rare accident in July of 2011 that resulted with a broken, instant paralysis from the neck down, drowning, and temporary death. I’ve since overcome the quadriplegia but not all of the affects of the spinal cord damage. I was self employed and had health insurance at the time of the accident but gaps in coverage have left me with a substantial amount of medical debt.
Now, on to my second point: sharing my art. I’ve been capturing landscapes since the first day I picked up a [professional] camera. I really enjoy the process of capturing landscapes, as it usually involves exploring, enjoying down-time with myself, and admiring the beauty the sights, sounds, and aromas of the environments. Eventually creation entered the equation – during and after the capture process. Art is the translation of perception into creation, and these images are the byproduct of the way I perceive the environment. It is my pleasure to reflect on to you the incredibly beautiful and powerful moments and places that I experience.
Enjoy the exploration! I look forward to hearing all about it.
Kevin, I wish you well in your recovery. As a fellow photographer in LA, let me just say that I am incredibly moved by your work as well as your story. I just ordered a print from your gallery and sharing your website with as many people as I can.
Love & Blessings to you my friend!
Amy
